You correct people without noticing, sure you are helping. But nobody ever welcomed being put right. It quietly costs you.
We call it letting people be. But the word hides a claim: that you could have stopped them. Their joy never needed your permission.
We defend old opinions like property. But you're not obligated to be who you were yesterday. Changing your mind is what minds are for.
We defend positions we're not even sure about. The fear of being wrong keeps us caged in arguments that don't matter.
The people who have it don't talk about it. The people still building a case can't stop.
