An old friend made a comment that didn’t quite fit anymore.
It sounded like a version of me from years ago.
I noticed the urge to correct them.
To explain.
To update the record.
Instead, I let it sit.
People don’t really change their picture of you through conversation.
They update it through patterns.
Through how you show up.
What you choose.
What you no longer react to.
Words argue with the past.
Actions make it irrelevant.
You don’t need to announce growth.
It shows up on its own, given time.
